On Wednesday, September 2, the UN Monitoring Mission will present a report on human rights violations committed in the context of criminal proceedings and processes related to conflicts in eastern Ukraine and in the occupied Crimea. The press service of the department reported about this.
“Unlawful and arbitrary arrest and detention, lengthy trials, lack of access to lawyers, torture and ill-treatment, and lack of effective remedies are common human rights violations that occur in the context of criminal and conflict-related proceedings in the east of Ukraine, in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation”,- the message said.
It is noted that during the online presentation of the report, systematic problems in criminal proceedings and recommendations for improving the situation will be presented and discussed together with representatives of public organizations.
