The UN Population Division does not include residents of Crimea in the data for Russia when preparing forecasts on the population size of countries. Patrick Gerland, head of the section on estimates and projections of the UN population, said this in a comment to the RIA News media agency.
“Data on Crimea is included in the data published on Ukraine”,- Gerland said.
He said that every two years, the UN Population Division releases a document called World Population Prospects, which contains estimates and projections, including the population of all countries.
