ECHR accepted an application submitted by the CTRC on the case of political prisoner Minasov

25 August 2020The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) accepted for consideration an application prepared by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center (CTRC) on the case of political prisoner Emil Minasov.

Recall that in 2017, a number of criminal "cases" were initiated against a resident of Sevastopol Emil Minasov in the occupied Crimea on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for incitement to hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity).

On July 18, 2017, the Pervomaisky district "court" of Crimea sentenced a Crimean Tatar to 1 year and 3 months in a penal colony for allegedly spreading extremist statements in the Internet.
