August 20, 2020

Arsen Dzhepparov, a defendant in the so-called Yalta Hizb ut-Tahrir case, underwent a surgical operation to remove the flux without painkillers: “first they pierced it with a needle, and then somehow cleaned it up.” This was reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.

“Arsen is kept in a semi-basement room. In a very small cell, all covered with mold. In his words, it is very cold and damp. As a result, on the second or third day of his stay in it, his cheek and flux swelled. Yesterday he was operated if it can be called a surgery. Because it was all without any painkillers, any kind of it. First they pierced him with a needle, after that they somehow cleaned the piercing, with such pain. Then he went looking for cotton wool with a plaster, stuck this plaster on his wound. The second day even the bandages were not applied”,- said lawyer Edem Semedliaiev.

We remind that Emir-Husein Kuku, Vadym Siruk, Muslim Aliiev, Enver Bekirov, Arsen Dzhepparov and Refat Alimov are accused of participation in the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in the Russian Federation. They are charged with Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in it”). Later they began to impute Article 278 of the Criminal Code ("Forced seizure of power or forcible retention of power"). On October 11, during a court session in the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don, the prosecutor requested 13 to 20 years in prison for the so-called Yalta Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendants. On November 12, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don announced the sentence. Muslim Aliiev and Enver Bekirov were sentenced to 19 and 18 years in a maximum security penal colony, Emir-Huseyn Kuku and Vadim Siruk – to 12 years, Refat Alimov – to 8 years, Arsen Dzhepparov – to 7 years.
