In Henichesk district of Kherson region, the work of the Freedom Camp International Summer Camp, implemented by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine and the Open Society Foundation, continues. Under the guidance of qualified trainers, the participants were introduced to the specifics of the Middle East, the specifics of the information war in the Russian-Ukrainian war and the role of visual language and design in international public information campaigns. The activists reinforced the theoretical part with practical tasks.
Iliya Kusa, an expert on international politics at the analytical center “Ukrainian Institute for the Future”, gave a lecture on “The Middle East in the mosaic of world processes: players, processes, interests and ideologies” The trainer introduced the participants to the role of global players in the Middle East – the United States, the European Union, China and Russia, and also talked about the features, causes and consequences of the wars that are taking place in the Middle East with a special emphasis on the social structure of the region.
After the theoretical part, the Freedom Camp participants played a game of developing negotiation skills.
Sergiy Parkhomenko, Director of the Center for foreign policy studies, told the participants about information warfare and psychological operations in the modern Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as about the Ukrainian path to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization: how can Ukraine achieve NATO standards?
In addition, the trainer spoke about the political lobbying campaign for the liberation of Crimea, “Candidate tell us: whose Crimea is?”, implemented within the framework of the #LIBERATECRIMEA international movement. The activist noted that it was aimed at analyzing the election programs and rhetoric of candidates for the presidency of Ukraine and MPS of the Verkhovna Rada on the topic of de-occupation of Crimea, protection of human rights in the occupied Crimea and the implementation of the collective rights of the Crimean Tatar people in Ukraine.
Andriy Yermolenko, artist, cartoonist, told online the activists of Freedom Camp about the role of visual language and design in international public information campaigns. Using specific examples, the trainer analyzed the symbolism and messages of certain elements on various posters.
Also in the Freedom Camp practical work in groups continues to develop creative campaigns and messages within the international movement #LIBERATECRIMEA.
As part of the evening program, participants discussed and analyzed the situation in Belarus, as well as developed communication skills through active participation in interactive games

We remind you that on August 12, the work of the International Summer Camp “Freedom Camp” began. The event, which takes place in the village of Strilkove, Henichesk district, Kherson region, is attended by activists from different parts of Ukraine. The goal of the camp is to unite activists, exchange experience, obtain information about liberal values, communication technologies, image, international public events, methods of nonviolent resistance, etc., as well as the formation of new creative ideas in the context of the liberation of Crimea.
