The Bagaevskiy District Court of the Rostov Region rejected the defense’s petition for the parole of civil journalist Nariman Memediminov, who had previously been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. The Crimean Tatar Resource Center was informed about this by his wife Ilmara.

“He had one verbal comment due to the fact that he did not go to work for health reasons. Of course, this is not a reason at all, but since it is a political matter, there is no particular need for a reason,” said the spouse.

We remind, that on March 22, Russian security officials ransacked the dwelling of an activist of Crimean Solidarity, a civil journalist Nariman Memediminov in the village of Kholmivka, Bakhchisaray district. On October 2, the Southern District Military Court sentenced the journalist to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a penal colony, and also banned his administration of the websites for two years. For two years now, Memediminov has been illegally detained.

According to his wife, the search was carried out in a harsh manner, security officials broke down the front door and used obscene words. The man himself was detained on suspicion of public calls for terrorist activities. In relation to Nariman Memediminov, the right to a fair trial was repeatedly violated, in particular, the period of detention was regularly extended and rejected appeals. The right to the healthcare access was also violated. On September 27, in the North Caucasus District Military Court, the “prosecutor” demanded to sentence the civil journalist Nariman Memediminov to six years in prison. On October 2, a hearing was held in the Southern District Military Court on the so-called Nariman Memediminov case, during which the court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in prison in a settlement colony, and also prohibited his administration of the websites for two years.
