The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov said that the temporary suspension of the operation of the checkpoint between the Kherson region and the occupied Crimea is unreasonable, and such actions deprived Ukrainians, especially those who live on the peninsula, of the opportunity to enjoy the rights of citizens guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine.
“The termination of the work of checkpoints of entry and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, done in the manner and procedure provided for by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine 3979-r dated August 8, 2020, deprived the citizens of Ukraine, especially those living in the temporarily occupied the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the opportunity to enjoy the rights of a citizen guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine”,- said in message.
The Chairman of the Mejlis demands to resume the practice of systematic consultations and meetings between the leadership of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the only supreme representative body of the Crimean Tatar people – the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, in order to avoid further situations when the rights of citizens of Ukraine are grossly violated.
Chubarov hopes that the order to temporarily suspend the work of the checkpoint between the Kherson region and the occupied Crimea will be urgently changed and additions, which were prepared and sent to the Government of Ukraine by the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the ARC and a number of human rights organizations of Ukraine will be taken into account.
