On Thursday, July 30, in the City Court of Armyansk, a so-called trial was held against the national leader of the Crimean Tatars, Mustafa Dzhemilev, during which prosecution witness Muzafar Fukala was interrogated. Lawyer Nikolai Polozov reported about it via his Facebook page.

The witness said that when he arrived at the traffic police post on May 3, 2014, he discovered that there were people there armed with automatic weapons in camouflage uniforms without identification marks, some were wearing balaclavas and masks. They stood in a chain facing towards  Armyansk, behind them was an armored personnel carrier. Nearby, in the forest belt, there were at least a hundred more people in camouflage uniforms and several units of military equipment.

“The people who came to meet Mustafa Dzhemilev did not behave aggressively, did not try to damage or destroy any property, they were unarmed. There was a controversy between them and the people in camouflage. At some point, people in camouflage in the presence of women and children began to shoot from submachine guns into the air”,-the message says.

Witness Fukala also stressed that in that area he did not observe clear visible border signs, border posts with the emblem of the Russian Federation, any signs and signs warning about the border regime and the state border.

“According to the witness, Mustafa Dzhemilev did not make any attempts to break through the chain of armed men in camouflage towards Armyansk. He was always in approximately the same place. The witness does not know what caused the shots from the people in camouflage”,- added Polozov.

It is noted that the next court session on the so-called case against Mustafa Dzhemilev will take place on September 10.

Mustafa Dzhemilev is charged under Part 3 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of Russia – “Illegal crossing of the state border of Russia”, according to Part 1 of Article 222 – “Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their main parts, ammunition” and under Article 224 – “Careless possession of firearms, which created conditions for its use by another person, if this entailed the death of a person or other serious consequences.”
