The head of the board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev in an interview with the Crimea.Realities, commenting on the incident in the Kyiv school, stressed the importance of studying the history of Crimea to strengthen current relations between peoples and the position to preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine. In this regard, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people already has the best practices for introducing the history of the Crimean Tatar people into textbooks on the history of Ukraine.
“Of course, it is very unpleasant to hear when pupils of Ukrainian schools allow themselves to make such statements. But here I would approach this issue more systematically: children are an indicator of the system's operation, a reflection of Ukrainian society. I think this case should become a serious subject for further work with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, with Ukrainian politicians, since these are all interconnected things”,- Bariiev said.
The head of the CTRC noted that now the Mejlis is preparing to meet with the schoolchildren involved in the Kyiv scandal in order to acquaint them with the history of the Crimean Tatar people and personally with its leader Mustafa Dzhemilev.
“We have some groundwork for introducing the history of the Crimean Tatar people into textbooks on the history of Ukraine, since this is a part of it. If children study the history of Crimea, the Crimean Khanate, the history of its relationship with the Ukrainian Cossacks, joint victories and results, this will give a very important message and will strengthen the current relations between peoples and the position on preserving the territorial integrity of Ukraine, taking into account the temporarily occupied peninsula”,- he stressed.
