“The European Union does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation. Thus, the EU condemns the referendum on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which ended on July 1, and which took place on the Crimean peninsula in violation of international law”,- the statement said.
