Russian court softened sentence to political prisoner Dilyaver Gafarov

The fourth cassation court of general jurisdiction in Krasnodar softened the term of imprisonment for 2 months to political prisoner Dilyaver Gafarov, who had previously been sentenced to 10 years in prison with a sentence in a maximum security penal colony. It is reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.

“He made an official phone call from penal colony #1 to the village of Kochubeyevskoye in the Stavropol Territory, where he is serving his sentence, and informed me of the outcome of the court session”,- said Dilyaver Gafarov’s wife Dilyara.

We remindl that on October 30, Russian security forces searched the house of Dilyaver Gafarov in the village of Zhemchuzhina, Crimea, Kirov District. The security forces searched for weapons, but found nothing. After the search, the man was allegedly taken to the Simferopol prison. Dilyaver Gafarov was detained on suspicion of a crime under Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Participation in an armed formation not provided for by federal law, as well as participation in a foreign state in an armed formation not provided for by the legislation of that state, for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation”. On August 28, the so-called Kirov District Court of Crimea (so-called judge Igor Degtyarev) sentenced Dilyaver Gafarov, accused of participating in an illegal armed group under Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, to 10 years in prison.
