CTRC representatives informed OSCE participating states about human rights violations in the occupied Crimea

On Monday, June 22, the first day of the OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on “Freedom of expression, and its relation to other fundamental freedoms” finished. Representatives of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center participated in the online meeting and spoke about human rights violations in the occupied Crimea.

The head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, a member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bariiev, in his speech emphasized the violation of the right to freedom of expression of the Crimean Tatar people in the occupied Crimea through the prohibition of Mejlis and its meetings, the prosecution of members of Mejlis and delegates of the Kurultay, as well as the deprivation of the right of the Crimean Tatar people to hold democratic elections of their representative bodies in Crimea.

Liudmyla Korotkykh , manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, expert of the Center of Political  Analysis and Forecasting "Crimea" , in her speech emphasized the legislative restrictions applied by the de facto authorities in Crimea, the exercise of the right to peaceful assembly, as one of the main methods of suppressing freedom of expression on the peninsula .

Zarema Barieva, manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, in her statement emphasized that the image of the enemy-nations is purposefully created from the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians, criminal proceedings are opened in the so-called "Hizb-ut Tahrir", "Jehovah's Witnesses" and "Ukrainian saboteurs", promoting the threat of Islamic and Ukrainian terrorism.
