On Monday, April 27, lawyer Nikolai Polozov met with Ivan Yatskin, who is accused of allegedly high treason in the form of espionage. The political prisoner feels well, but as noted, in conditions of coronavirus infection, temperature measurements are not taken, and for lunch “each prisoner is given half the onion.” This was reported by the lawyer via his page on Facebook.
“He feels well, during the investigative actions he was in a gauze bandage that was given to him when moving from the stention facility building. In the cell he and his cellmate are without masks. Of the restrictions I would like to mention there is a ban on receiving transmissions. Both directly in the pre-trial detention center and postal parcels”,- the message says.
The lawyer notes that the measures to combat coronavirus in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center have not changed – each prisoner is given half the onion for lunch. Temperature measurements have not been carried out, and are not carried out.
“Ivan Yatskin was especially interested in the issue of the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. Honestly, I told him that so far we have not seen any significant progress. Recently there was an exchange between Ukraine and the so-called LPR and DPR, however, there is no relation to political prisoners held in the Russian Federation and occupied Crimea, so there is no progress”,- he added.
We remind that in early December 2019, Russian security forces in the occupied Crimea detained a resident of Simferopol, Ivan Yatskin, on charges of allegedly high treason. Subsequently, the man was escorted to Moscow. He was arrested until March 16, 2020. Ivan Yatskin’s lawyer, Nikolai Polozov, signed a non-disclosure agreement on the so-called case.
