April 27, 2020

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Estonia stated that the situation with the “Russian Crimea” in English textbooks will be corrected. Stickers will be put on the map, which will indicate that the peninsula belongs to Ukraine. This was reported via the page of the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia on Facebook.

It is noted that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Estonia responded to a letter from the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia about an English textbook for Estonian schools in which Crimea is shown as part of the territory of the Russian Federation.

“The letter from the Ministry says that according to the agreement with Studium publishing house, which issued this textbook, the situation will be corrected. Namely, stickers will be put on the map that will indicate that the Crimean Peninsula belongs to Ukraine. The Ministry also stated that Estonia will not recognize the occupation Crimea by Russia”,- the report said.

We remind that earlier the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia sent a letter to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Estonia due to the fact that in school textbooks on the map of Europe Crimea was marked as part of the Russian Federation. The publisher who issued these textbooks apologized for the negligence and stated that the company is likely to release new textbooks.
