Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified procedure of obtaining Russian citizenship, according to which residents of Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Kazakhstan can now apply for citizenship without observing the requirements for a fixed period of residence in the country. This was reported in the text of the published document.
Now, people who had USSR citizenship and lived in the former Soviet republics do not need to stay in Russia for three years and confirm the existence of an official source of income when applying for Russian citizenship.
In addition, graduates of Russian institutions of higher education will now also be able to apply for citizenship of Russia after one year of work in Russia instead of three years.
