We want to bring our husbands and sons back home – wife of political prisoner Hennadiy Lemeshko

April 23, 2020

The wife of the so-called Ukrainian saboteurs case, Hennadiy Lemeshko , Iryna, in a comment to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, said that the “#TalkToUs” flashmob is the only way to attract the attention of the President of Ukraine to Crimean political prisoners and their relatives. As none of the authorities contacted them, they decided to act through the media.

Flashmob #TalkToUs was started after an exchange that took place in the occupied Donbas in April this year. The authorities promised us that they will exchange political prisoners from the occupied Crimea, including the Crimean Tatars and those in Russia.”

The wife stressed that since no representatives of the Office of the President contact them, they do not communicate, they decided to act on their own, through the media, on social networks.

“We are trying to get the attention of the president. We demand meetings with relatives of political prisoners, we demand to fulfill the promise he gave us. Namely, to return our husbands and sons back home!” She explained.

We will remind that on August 12, 2017 the FSB of Russia reported about the detention in the annexed Crimea of the man whom they called “the agent of SBU” and accused of preparation of sabotages on the peninsula. Later, Russian security services released video of the arrest and interrogation of the man. On camera, he called himself  Hennadiy Lemeshko  , born in 1992, and confessed that he was allegedly preparing diversions on the territory of Crimea. The Security Service of Ukraine denied the fact of any connection of the detainee to the security organs of Ukraine. On May 10, 2018, the so-called Sudak City Court found Hennadiy Lemeshko   guilty of “unlawful purchase, possession and use of explosives” and sentenced him to 8 years in prison. The term of punishment is served in the colony # 6 of the Dydymkin farm of the Stavropol Region of the Russian Federation.
