Imam of the mosque accused of “missionary activity” in occupied Crimea

April 15, 2020

On Wednesday, April 15, in the occupied Crimea, an administrative case was opened against the imam of the mosque, Dilyaver Khalilov, because of “carrying out illegal missionary activity.” It is reported by the Crimean solidarity public initiative.

Dilyaver Khalilov received a requirement to arrive to the so-called prosecutor's office to give explanations on the fact of violation of the law, as well as the preparation and delivery of a decision on an administrative offense under Part 4 of Article 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

“Today, at the request of the imam, we arrived at the prosecutor's office of the Sovetsky District. Dilyaver Khalilov is the local imam of the mosque. Of course, we all see such a tendency in Crimea: prosecuting Muslims for illegal missionary activity. What kind of missionary activity can we talk about when the imam is inside the mosque hosts the obligatory Friday Khutbah and Friday prayer in the mosque?” – said lawyer Emil Kurbedinov.
