The so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendant Rustem Ismailov was transferred to the Bashkortostan colony

On Tuesday, April 7, the so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendant Rustem Ismailov was transferred to the colony #2 in the city of Salavat. Prior to that, he was in jail #1 in Ufa. It is reported by the Crimean solidarity media agency.

“Today I received an answer to my request from the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Republic of Bashkortostan that Rustem Ismailov was transferred to correctional colony #2 of the city of Salavat on April 7, 2020. Prior to that, he was in jail #1 in Ufa. Then he was in the medical institution and on April 7 he was transferred to correctional colony #2 of the city of Salavat”,- said lawyer Edem Semedlyaev.

It is noted that the convict has already been imposed disciplinary sanctions for violations of the established procedure for serving a sentence in the form of 2 reprimands and 1 placement to a punishment cell.

We remind that on October 12, 2016, Russian security forces as a result of mass searches in the village of Strohonivka of Simferopol region detained five representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people – Uzeir Abdullaev, Teymur Abdullaev, Rustem Ismailov, Emil Dzhemadenov and Ayder Saledinov. They were accused of participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation. They were charged with article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“organizing the activities of a terrorist organization and participating in it”).

On June 18, 2019, the North Caucasian District Military Court of the Russian Federation sentenced individuals involved in the Simferopol “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”. Teymur Abdullayev was sentenced to 17 years in a maximum security penal colony with a probation of 1 year and 6 months, Rustem Ismailov – to 14 years, Uzeir Abdullaev – to 13 years, Ayder Saledinov and Emil Dzhemadenov – to 12 years.

On December 24, 2019, the Supreme Court in Moscow reduced the terms of imprisonment of  the so-called Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendants by 6 months.
