US calls on Russia to release all political prisoners

April 13, 2020

The US Embassy in Ukraine condemned Russia’s new accusations against the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, and once again called on the Russian Federation to release all political prisoners. This was reported via the embassy’s Facebook page.

“Once again, Russia has resorted to a farce with criminal charges, this time against the Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Dzhemilev to keep him outside Crimea. We urge Russia to end the illegal occupation of Crimea and release all political prisoners”,- the report said.

We remind that the so-called Main Investigation Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has prepared the so-called case against leader of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev, who is accused of “illegal crossing of the Russian border” and “illegal handling of weapons.”
