April 6, 2020

On Monday, April 6, the so-called Armyansk City Court sentenced the political prisoner Denys Kashuk, who was suspected of “possession of explosives and ammunition,” to 3 years and 8 months in prison. This was reported by the Crimea.Realities media agency.

The lawyer Serhii Lehostov, in his commentary to Crimea.Realities, said that the defense did not intend to appeal the verdict of his client.

“Three years and eight months is a very gentle sentence for the three offenses of which our client is accused. As of now, the defense side does not intend to file an appeal. Denys himself, in my opinion, accepted the verdict as satisfactorily as possible in this situation. He feels more or less satisfied”,- said the lawyer.

We remind that on December 17, 2019 in the occupied Crimea, a resident of Simferopol Denys Kashuk disappeared. The next day, a search of his house was conducted, and FSB officers said that Kashuk had been detained because he was suspected of “making explosives.”

On December 20, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol arrested a resident of Simferopol Denis Kashuk on suspicion of “storage of explosives and ammunition.”
