The Crimean Prosecutor’s Office stated that 91 charges had been sent to Ukrainian courts against members of the Crimean parliament and the Sevastopol City Council who voted to hold an illegal “referendum” on the peninsula. Now there are already two sentences: 12 and 14 years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the department.
“The prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea works to protect the rights and freedoms of Crimeans and to hold accountable all those involved in the occupation of the peninsula. We have now sent 91 indictments to the courts against the Crimean parliament and the Sevastopol city council members who voted for the referendum. Today there are already two sentences against former deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, these individuals are sentenced to 12 and 14 years in prison”,- the report claimed.
Prosecutors also reported suspicion of high treason, encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, acts aimed at seizing state power and put on the wanted list illegally appointed Chairman and one of the members of the so-called “Electoral Commission of the Republic of Crimea”, which provided for the organization and conduction of the so-called “referendum.”
“The 6 years of occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol are accompanied by systematic violations of international humanitarian law: killings, torture, illegal persecution, imprisonment, illegal conscription to the armed forces of the occupying state, deportation of the pro-Ukrainian population of the peninsula and their replacement by Russian citizens – this is only a small part of the consequences that followed the occupation of the peninsula under a false disguise of this so-called “referendum”,- underlined prosecutor of the ARC Ihor Ponochovny.
