The editors of the magazine “Black Sea Security” received the first letter from the so-called case of Ukrainian saboteurs detainee Oleksiy Bessarabov, who is in a maximum security colony in Russia in the Stavropol Region. The political prisoner denies all charges against him. This was reported by the chief editor of the magazine Mykhailo Honchar via his page on Facebook.
“The criminal prosecution against us had and has nothing to do with either the rule of the law or common sense. All the charges against me (us) are false, absurd, biased and illegal. Thanks again to everyone for their support. All that happens to us, makes us stronger. Together we are strong. Glory to Ukraine!”,- the letter says.
Mykailo notes that this week support for political prisoners was expressed in Tallinn, where the International Center for Security and Defense Research, with the assistance of the Ukrainian Embassy in Estonia, organized a workshop dedicated to the problems of occupied Crimea.
We remind that on November 9, 2016, FSB officers detained Vladimir D1udka, Dmitriy Shtyblikov, Oleksiy Bessarabov and Gleb Shabliy in Sevastopol on suspicion of preparing a sabotage in the Crimea (article 30 and paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that these repressive actions are being carried out for an external audience with an attempt to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the world community, as well as for an internal Russian audience to convince that Ukrainians are allegedly dangerous.
On May 18, 2017, Dmitriy Shtyblikov entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation, that is, admitted his guilt. None of the independent lawyers were allowed to see him. On November 16, 2017, the so-called Sevastopol City Court sentenced him to 5 years in a maximum security penal colony and to a fine of 200 thousand rubles.
On April 4, 2019, the so-called Sevastopol City Court sentenced the individuals involved in the so-called case of Ukrainian saboteurs Vladimir D1udka and Oleksiy Bessarabov to 14 years in prison and imposed a fine of 350 and 300 thousand rubles, respectively.
