In 2019, in the occupied Crimea, 194 cases of interrogations, inteviews and “conversations” were recorded, 127 of which were related to representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. The number of these violations exceeds the indicator of 2018 by 42 cases. Then 152 cases were recorded. In 2017, 340 cases of interrogations, interviews, and “conversations” were known. This is stated in the analysis of human rights violations in Crimea for 2019 of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
Most of the interrogations, interviews and “conversations” were carried out after illegal detentions, including the ones on the administrative border with Crimea.
Crimean Tatar and pro-Ukrainian activists, left activists, religious activists – imams of mosques, individuals detained on suspicion of their membership in organizations banned in the Russian Federation – Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jehovah's Witnesses, individuals detained on suspicion of their membership in Noman Çelebicihan volunteer battalion, individuals detained for “calls for extremist or terrorist activity” and “manufacture of explosives”, etc.
We remind that in 2019, 86 searches were recorded in occupied Crimea, 64 of which were carried out in Crimean Tatars' dwellings, 157 cases of detentions were recorded as well, 127 of which were against representatives of the Crimean Tatar people.
