January 14, 2020

The so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendant Ayder Dzhepparov has a tumor on the lower jaw, which passes into the larynx. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova appealed to the Russian Ombudswoman Tatyana Moskalkova with a request to conduct a full medical examination and provide necessary healthcare to the so-called Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendant Ayder Dzhepparov. This was reported by Denisova via her Facebook account.

“The illegally detained Crimean Tatar has a tumor in the lower jaw under the right eighth lower tooth, which passes into the larynx. Because of this, he can’t open his mouth and swallow. Due to healthcare access denial, a citizen of Ukraine complains of constant severe toothache and headache”, – the message emphasizes.

It is noted that such actions contradict the guaranteed norms of Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and paragraph 22 of the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners of 08/30/1955, approved by the UN Economic and Social Council.

“I appeal to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova with a request to urgently take measures to restore Ayder Dzhepparov’s rights – to conduct a full medical examination and provide necessary healthcare,” Denisova underlined.

We remind that on June 10, Russian security forces conducted mass searches of the dwellings of Crimean Tatars in Alushta, Bilohirsk and Simferopol. As a result, 8 people were detained on suspicion of their membership in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation. On June 10 and 11, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol chose a preventive measure in the form of detention until August 5 for the Crimean Tatars detained after searches – Riza Omerov, Enver Omerov, Ayder Dzhepparov, Eskender Suleymanov, Ruslan Nagaev, Eldar Kantimirov, Ruslan Mesutov and Lenur Khalilov.

On October 31, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol extended the term of arrest until February 5, 2020 to Lenur Khalilov, Ruslan Nagaev, Ruslan Mesutov, Eldar Kantimirov, Enver Omerov, Riza Omerov and Ayder Dzhepparov.
