The Ukrainian consul was once again refused to visit the illegally convicted activist Olexander Kolchenko, who is serving a term in the correctional colony No. 6 in Kopeysk in Chelyabinsk region . This was stated by the Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Ekaterina Zelenko, reports “UNIAN”.
“On February 25, the leadership of correctional colony No. 6 in the Chelyabinsk region refused to allow the Ukrainian consuls to visit Olexander Kolchenko,” arguing that their refusal is based on claiming Kolchenko as a citizen of the Russian Federation”, – Zelenko said.
She stated that Russia continues to obtrude illegally Russian citizenship to Ukrainian citizens.
“And, unfortunately, this is not a single case of a forced transfer into the citizenship of the Russian Federation in order to be able to hold a trial over them (Ukrainians) according to the rules of the Russian pseudo Femida,” she said.
She also demanded that Russian authorities release the Ukrainians illegally detained in Russian prisons.
Recall on May 11, 2014, representatives of the Russian special services detained Oleg Sentsov, and on May 16, Ukrainian public activist Olexander Kolchenko. On August 25, 2015, the North-Caucasian Military Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced Oleg Sentsov and Olexander Kolchenko: for 20 and 10 years in a strict regime colony. Crimeans met the verdict by singing the anthem of Ukraine and the optimistic "Glory to Ukraine!". The international community has repeatedly appealed to President Vladimir Putin to release Oleg Sentsov and Olexander Kolchenko, but for more than four and a half years they have been illegally detained behind FSB bars.
