On Wednesday, January 9, the Kerch city “court” planned to consider the parole of the activist Vladimir Balukh, however the meeting was rescheduled to January 25 at 2:00 p.m. This is reported on the website of “Krym. Realii”.
According to Vladimir’s lawyer, the court hearing was “rescheduled due to procedural moments”, but he did not specify which ones.
On January 16, the Razdolnensky district court of Crimea sentenced Vladimir Balukh to three years and seven months of the colony settlement and imposed a fine of 10 thousand rubles. He was accused of alleged possession of ammunition. On March 14, the Supreme Court of Crimea changed the verdict against the Ukrainian activist Vladimir Balukh. "Judge" Timur Slezhko excluded from the charge the item concerning acquisition of ammunition. Because of it, the verdict was changed to 3 years and 5 months of imprisonment in a colony settlement. On March 19, it became known that Vladimir Balukh started a hunger strike, protesting against the verdict handed down to him.
On June 23, a political prisoner announced about the intensification of the hunger strike, going over to water. This decision is a protest against provocations by the administration of the detention facility against the Ukrainian activist. On October 9, 2018, it was reported that Balukh was transferred to the Russian colony. This was the reason for the temporary cessation of the hunger strike.
On July 5, 2018, the Razdolnensky district "court" of Crimea sentenced Vladimir Balukh to 5 years in prison in a general regime colony and a fine of 10 thousand rubles (about 4 thousand hryvnias) in the second criminal case about the disorganization of the work of the temporary detention center.
On September 3, 2018, the Supreme "court" of Crimea changed the sentence to political prisoner Vladimir Balukh from 5 years in a general regime colony to 4 years and 11 months of imprisonment. At the same time, the “court” did not satisfy the appeal of the defense, but softened the sentence, “taking into account the positive characteristic of Vladimir Balukh”.
