Vilnius sells maps depicting temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as part of russia

Russian maps showing Crimea and part of Ukraine’s eastern regions as part of the Russian Federation have been sold in the Lithuanian capital. The Vilnius bookstore “Knygų pasaulis”, located near the railway station, sells exclusively Russian publications. Among them are atlases published in Moscow, which mislead customers about the real borders of Ukraine. This was reported on the air of radio “LRT”.

Political scientist Marius Laurinavicius notes that Russia is using gaps in Lithuanian legislation to spread its military propaganda:

“For defense, in my opinion, it is necessary to change or pass some laws now. It should be done. As long as it is not settled legally, we can only hope for the conscience of store owners and their outlook. But if we understand that this is part of the war, then this approach is not enough to defend against the attack of Russia,” – the expert said.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center notes that it is important to counter Russian disinformation and remind the world of the real situation in occupied Crimea. That is why the СЕКС website is available in four languages: Ukrainian, Russian, English and Crimean Tatar, and there is also a separate Facebook page in Arabic.

We call on everyone abroad to disseminate truthful information about Crimea. After all, the peninsula has been under occupation for more than 11 years, and our resistance will continue until Crimea is deoccupied.

More materials about human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, Russian propaganda and other important issues can be found on the CTRC website in the “Our Activities” section.
