The former deputy commander of the Sevastopol naval base of the Ukrainian Navy was found guilty in absentia of high treason and desertion. This was reported by the specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the southern region of Ukraine.
It was proven in court that during the annexation of Crimea in 2014, the convict refused to perform the duties of military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went over to the side of the Russian Federation. The ex-deputy commander was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
