June 13, 2023

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of June 11, 2023 On the application and amendment of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions).

Personal sanctions were imposed on 178 people, including judges of the Russian Federation, in particular judges of the constitutional court of Russia, as well as judges who changed the oath of Ukraine. In particular, the sanctions list included persons whose information was sent by experts from the Crimean Tatar Resource Center to Ukrainian state bodies, including the Security Service of Ukraine.

The restrictions are in place for five years.

Let us recall that earlier the experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center developed a list of 166 persons who violate human rights in the occupied Crimea. In addition, a classification of persons involved in the persecution of political prisoners, their relatives and Crimean activists was presented:

FSB officers

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service

Advocates by Appointment

Other officials (ministries, Ministry of Emergency Situations, investigatory committee, etc.)

A detailed list of persons involved in human rights violations in the occupied Crimea can be found in our clickable chart.

In addition, in 2021, the CTRC prepared and handed over a list of 50 persons involved in human rights violations in the occupied Crimea to representatives of countries that have a law similar to the Magnitsky Act with a request to include them in the sanctions lists – the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Estonia, Latvia , Lithuania and the EU, as well as 5 meetings were held with foreign embassies on this issue.
