The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has
served two former employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of
Ukraine, who joined the Russian Federation after the occupation of
Crimea, with a notice of suspicion of treason. They face up to 15
years in prison with confiscation of property.
It is known that in 2012 and 2013, the suspects held the positions of
the head of the sector for combating drug trafficking in the Belogorsk
district department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal
Affairs of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea and the deputy head – head of
the public security police of the Alushta city department of the Main
Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the AR of
Crimea.
It was found that one of the suspects had been the Deputy Chief of
Police for Operational Work of the Belogorsk District Department of
the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation since 2014,
and since 2023 he has been the Head of the Department of the Ministry
of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Nizhnegorsk
District. Another suspect held senior positions in the Russian
Ministry of Internal Affairs in Alushta and Yalta between 2014 and
2023.
“Another ‘law enforcement officer’ worked as the ‘head of the
department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian
Federation in Alushta’ and ‘deputy chief of police for public order
protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Yalta’ in
2014-2023,” the statement said.
