The Kyiv district court in Akmesdzhit (Simferopol) arrested Seydamet Mustafaev, Eldar Yakubov and Abdulmedzhyt Seitumerov until the end of October. This was reported by the lawyers of the detainees Safiie Shabanova, Siiar Panych and Emil Kurbedinov to Crimean Solidarity.
This decision was made due to the petition of the investigation that three Crimean Tatars could hide and put pressure on witnesses.
In the petition, the investigator pointed out that Mustafaev allegedly did not work anywhere and had no permanent income, although Shabanova noted that her client was the head of the family that he supported and worked for, and that he had four young children. The investigator also noted that her client did not have stable social ties in Crimea and that he could hide, and to Shabanova’s question about why, having repeatedly come to the attention of FSB officers, he remained on the peninsula, Mustafaev replied that never and never under what circumstances did not want to leave the Crimea and that he fully accepts the position in which he found himself. According to the lawyer, a large family just indicates that her client has stable social ties.
According to the defender, the investigator said that Yakubov allegedly also does not have any stable social ties, he can hide and continue his activities. At the same time, Yakubov is married and has five children, as well as a house in Bakhchysarai.
“This is another template petition, which the investigator does not even delve into and does not change the wording in it, saying the same thing about each accused”,- Panych emphasized.
Panych asked that his client be placed under house arrest, but the court did not heed the defense’s arguments.
At the meeting, Seitumerov’s lawyer, Emil Kurbedinov, requested that the court attach 25 diplomas and letters of thanks from his client, and stated that the only genuine reason why the FSB wants to incarcerate Abdulmedzhyt is his refusal to slander himself and others on this case, to confess to something that did not happen.
Kurbedinov also said that the investigator’s petition was full of another wording without any evidence and that Seitumerov had no reason to leave Crimea.
At the trial, Seitumerov stated that he was a citizen of Ukraine and insisted that the fourth article of the Geneva Convention should be applied to him.
Eldar Yakubov was kept in custody until October 23, Mustafaev was arrested until October 31, Seitumerov was sent to a pre-trial detention center for two months.
All of them will be kept in pre-trial detention center No. 2 in Aqmescit (Simferopol).
