The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine

February 24, 2023

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proposed by Ukraine on the anniversary of the Russian invasion, which calls on the Russian Federation to stop hostilities and withdraw its troops from Ukraine, and also consolidates the main provisions of the Ukrainian peace formula.

141 out of 193 member countries voted in favor of the resolution, 7 voted against. Only Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Russia and Syria voted against, 39 states abstained.

We emphasize that Belarus proposed to replace Russian aggression in the text of the resolution with military actions in Ukraine, as well as to exclude the requirement for Russia to immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine.
