The military registration and enlistment office came to the police department to hand over summons to the Crimean Tatars

August 26, 2023

The Crimean Tatars detained near the Kyiv district court were given summons at the police department 2 in Aqmescit (Simferopol). Lawyer Edem Semedliaiev told Crimean Solidarity about this.

After delivering 23 Crimean Tatars to the police department, a military commissar of the Republican Military Commissariat arrived under the pretext of renewing data. At the same time, he issued summonses to all the detainees.

“We believe that this is a means of intimidation, pressure and a discriminatory approach towards everyone who arrived at the courts today”,- said lawyer LiliHemedzhi.

She noted that all factors indicate that the security forces want to prevent them from supporting compatriots, prevent them from getting to the courts, which are held behind closed doors, and where people who have nothing to do with terrorism are arrested under articles on terrorism.

All the detainees were left overnight in a temporary detention center in different cities of Crimea. They draw up administrative protocols under Article 20.2.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Organization of mass simultaneous stay and (or) movement of citizens in public places that entailed a violation of public order).

“My father became ill in the police department. All the detainees were taken into one room, it was stuffy and hot there. He has a bypass heart, after a massive heart attack and now his blood pressure has risen. He says that he was sick, thrown into sweat. Lawyer Edem Semedliaiev called an ambulance for him.  Doctors arrived, examined him, measured his blood pressure – it really was high. They gave a pill and left. It is now 1:30 a.m., he left the house in the morning and is still on his feet, in the police”,- says Lutfiie Zudiieva, daughter of Remzi Zudiiev.

Administrative protocols and case materials will be transferred to the Kyiv district court of the city of Aqmescit (Simferopol). On August 26, there will be court hearings.

Recall that in November last year, the CTRC launched the information campaign Grave Mobilization. It informs about how to avoid conscription and mobilization, as well as about those involved in these illegal activities.
