March 30, 2023

In the village of Kurman (Krasnohvardiiske), servicemen detained a 43-year-old man, head of the local religious cell of Jehovah’s Witnesses. This was reported by the press service of the occupational Ministry of Internal Affairs of Crimea on its page on the VK social network.

“At the propaganda meeting organized by him, the texts and religious provisions of Jehovah’s Witnesses were studied and discussed, prohibited literature was distributed, and the exclusivity and superiority of the dogma of Jehovah’s Witnesses over other traditional religions was proclaimed. Acting deliberately, as part of a group of people with a representative of the organization’s committee, the defendant carried out managerial functions to ensure the activities of an extremist organization”,- the report says.

We remind you that after the occupation of Crimea, the Russian Federation actively practices religious persecution on the peninsula. The occupiers systematically detain and sentence to long terms people involved in participation in the organizations banned in the Russian Federation Hizb ut-Tahrir and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Also, the Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimean OCU Klyment is subjected to systematic repression.
