On Thursday, January 19, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the establishment of an international tribunal to bring to justice all those responsible for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

472 MEPs voted for this document, 19 – against, 33 – abstained.

The website of the European Parliament notes that the MEPs demand that Russian political and military leaders be held accountable for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

“The MEPs call on the EU and its Member States, in close cooperation with Ukraine and the international community, to insist on the establishment of a special international tribunal to prosecute the crime of aggression against Ukraine committed by the political and military leaders of the Russian Federation and its allies. The creation of such a tribunal, according to MEPs, will eliminate the shortcomings of the current institutional mechanisms of international criminal justice and will complement the investigative work of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is currently unable to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine”,- the report says.
