“The crime must be condemned”: CTRC starts a storm in social networks dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people

May 15, 2023

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center starts a storm in social networks dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People. We call on every person, every conscientious citizen of their country to join us.

We want to remind Ukrainian and international societies about the terrible crime against humanity, about the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people committed  in 1944. A total of 238,500 people were deported from Crimea at that time, and the number of those who died in the first years was 46.2% which was half of the nation.

It is important to remember those terrible events, especially now, when history repeats. The Russian Federation actually continues the practice of the Soviet Union, because the goal of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine is the destruction of the Ukrainian people, their identity and culture. Daily mass murders, abductions, and the forced transfer of thousands of people, including children, from among the civic population of Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation are all today’s realities .

Join the storm “The crime must be condemned” to publicize the crimes of the Russian Federation against humanity, which are becoming systemic. The world did not condemn the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944, and this impunity gave rise to new crimes. Now the Russian Federation has committed the genocide of the Ukrainian people. We must stop it.

We invite everyone who cares, every person, every conscious citizen of Ukraine to join us and share one of the posters on their pages in social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram).

These posters were developed by  the activists of the international movement for the deoccupation of Crimea and solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people #LIBERATECRIMEA, and acquired their professional form thanks to the Ukrainian artist Andriy Yermolenko.

The #LIBERATECRIMEA campaign was presented by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center as part of its project implemented under the USAID/ENGAGE activity, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact. The contents of this campaign are the sole responsibility of Pact and its implementing partners and do not necessary reflect the views of USAID or the United States Government.
