Spanish volunteer Mariano Garcia Calatayud was illegally taken from pre-trial detention center 1 in Aqmescit (Simferopol). This was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, with reference to the prisoner’s wife Tetiana.
“According to her, at the end of September this year, her husband was taken from the Simferopol pre-trial detention center. There he was illegally detained for a year and a half, first without any charges at all, and later for so-called involvement in committing actions aimed at harming the security of the Russian Federation”,- he wrote.
According to him, the prisoner was repeatedly tortured in the pre-trial detention center.
