On 15 October, the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, established by Russia, held events to mark the 106th anniversary of the founding of the first university in Crimea. The Crimean Federal University named after Vernadsky, established by Russia, held events dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the founding of the first university in Crimea. During these events, the leadership of the СFU expressed the initiative to create an ‘institute of the state language’ in the structure of the university. This is reported by the correspondent of ‘Krym.Realii’.
According to activists of the Crimean branch of the internationa civil society movement for the de-occupation of Crimea #Liberatecrimea, this initiative is lobbied by the head of the Department of Russian, Slavic and general linguistics of the Institute of philology CFU of Alexander Rudyakov.
‘Our sources from the rectorate of the CFU report that the rector of CRIPPE, who is positioning himself as the main Russist of Crimea, who is also the head of the Russian language department at CFU, Alexander Rudyakov, together with the brother of the current acting rector, head of the department of Russian and foreign literature at the Institute of Philology of CFU, Sergey Kuryanov, are lobbying for the creation of an ‘institute of the state language.’ They are actively promoting this idea through the acting rector. The new institute is planned to train teachers of the Russian language,’ – the activists say.
The activists also note that this is a purely political project, as enough specialists in this field are already being trained. ‘Another thing is that not all of them go to work in schools due to the lack of prestige of the teaching profession in the temporarily annexed Crimea,’ – the activists stressed.
