Russians transferred Crimean political prisoner Alina Grek to the Krasnaya Gorka detention center in Novocherkassk

December 23, 2025
The location of Alina Grek, a resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea who was illegally convicted, has been revealed. The Russians transferred her to SIZO-3 in the city of Novocherkassk in the Rostov region, known by the unofficial name “Krasnaya Gorka.”

The transfer of the political prisoner was reported on the website of the Russian human rights project Memorial PZK.

According to human rights activists, Alina Grek is being held in pre-trial detention center No. 3, despite the fact that she had already been illegally “sentenced” to 15 years in prison. A Russian court found her guilty of so-called “treason,” “preparing a terrorist attack,” and “collaborating with Ukrainian intelligence.”

Alina Grek is a former student of the Tavrida Federal University named after Vernadsky, which is under the control of the occupation administration. In 2021, she was detained by Russian security forces in Akmesdzhit (Simferopol) during protests in support of Aleksey Navalny. At that time, the “court” controlled by the occupiers arrested her for five days, and her husband, Yevgeny Grek, was also detained.

In August 2025, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don illegally sentenced the 26-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied Akmesdzhit to 15 years in a penal colony. According to the prosecution, in January 2024, she allegedly tested an incendiary device and subsequently intended to use it to set fire to a relay cabinet.
