Putin signed a law on confiscation of property for fakes about the Russian army

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that allows for the confiscation of property for spreading fake news about the Russian army.

According to the document, authorities will be able to confiscate money, valuables and other property from people convicted under the following articles of the Criminal Code:

Article 280 (public calls for extremist activities);

Article 280.1 (public calls for actions aimed at violating the integrity of the Russian Federation);

Article 280.4 (public calls for activities directed against the security of the state);

Article 284.2 (calls for the introduction of sanctions against the Russian Federation and its citizens);

Article 284.3 (assistance in the implementation of decisions of international organizations in which the Russian Federation does not participate, or foreign government bodies);

Article 354.1 (rehabilitation of Nazism).

Let us recall that on January 22, 2024, a bill on confiscation of property for fakes about the Russian army was introduced into the Russian State Duma. In addition, it is proposed to confiscate awards and deprive them of titles and awards by court decision.

On January 24, 2024, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the first reading a bill according to which they are going to confiscate property for disseminating fakes about the Russian army. 395 deputies voted for the amendments, three voted against.
