Crimean Tatar activist Yashar Muedinov has serious health problems. Currently, the political prisoner is in a prison in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region. He complains of severe pain in his arm and leg, as well as swelling of the lower extremities. There is no surgeon in the institution who could provide him with the necessary assistance. This was reported by the political prisoner’s wife Nail Ibragimov to Crimean Solidarity.
Yashar Muedinov has repeatedly asked for medical assistance. At the end of August, during a long date with his wife, he tried to solve his health problems, but the examination was never carried out.
Communication with his family is limited: the activist can contact his family only once a month, which makes it difficult to obtain information about his health. “They have the right to call once a month, literally for 15 minutes. The last time he called, they didn’t even have 15 minutes – they said that he needed to deposit money into the account, and there was no time to ask about his health,” said the political prisoner’s wife, Naila.
In her opinion, the lack of medical care and limited contact with relatives pose a threat to Yashar Muedinov’s life and health.
On November 24, 2022, Yashar Muedinov, along with Ruslan Suleymanov, Enver Ametov, Rustem Sheikhaliyev and Osman Arifmemetov, was sentenced to long prison terms on politically motivated charges of “terrorist activity and attempted seizure of power”. All of the convicts are civil society activists and have pleaded not guilty. Yashar Muedinov was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
