Rustem Seithalilov, a Crimean Tatar activist of the Crimean
Solidarity, was transferred to the penal colony #9 in Petrozavodsk,
Republic of Karelia. This was reported to Crimean Solidarity by the
political prisoner’s wife, Elzara Seithalilova.
Upon arrival, he was immediately placed in a punishment cell for 14
days for unknown reasons.
The CTRC reminds that on March 27, 2019, Russian security forces in
occupied Crimea conducted massive searches in 26 homes of Crimean
Tatars. Some activists were confiscated literature, which, according
to Crimean Solidarity, was planted by the security forces themselves.
In addition to books and brochures, people’s phones, tablets, laptops,
and passports were seized. The security forces behaved rudely. They
reportedly used physical force against the detainees. Lawyers who
arrived at the place of searches were not allowed to see their
clients. The searches resulted in the detention of 20 people suspected
of involvement in the banned in Russia organization Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Currently, political prisoner Rustem Seithalilov has been sentenced to
14 years in prison.
