Ten Ukrainian citizens have been returned from Russian captivity, including the deputy chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Crimean political prisoner Nariman Dzhelyal.
This was reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Nariman Dzhelyal, Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, arrested in Crimea back in 2021,” – he said.
The Ukrainian President thanked everyone who helped to realize this exchange.
“I would also like to note the efforts of the Vatican for the sake of bringing home these people. We will definitely release all of ours!” – emphasized Zelensky.
We will remind, on September 3-4, 2021, representatives of the occupation “authorities” of the Russian Federation in Crimea conducted a series of searches and detained Nariman Dzhelyal and four other Ukrainians. Dzhelyal was accused of undermining a section of the gas pipeline, which occurred on August 23, 2021 near Simferopol and was sentenced to 17 years in a strict regime colony, and also appointed a fine – 700 thousand rubles and 1 year and 6 months of restriction of freedom of movement.
We sincerely congratulate Nariman Dzhelyal on his return to his native land, as well as his relatives, who finally were able to wait for the happy moment.
