Political prisoner Evgeniy Karakashev was released

On Thursday, February 1, Crimean political prisoner  Evgeniy    Karakashev, previously sentenced to 6 years in prison, was released.

We remind you that Russian occupiers detained Yevhen Karakashev on February 1, 2018, after a search of his house on suspicion of extremist statements on social networks and public calls for terrorist activities. On February 2, 2018, the Yevpatoriia city court of Crimea arrested Karakashev for 2 months. Subsequently, his period of detention was regularly extended.

According to the prosecution, at the end of 2014, Karakashev, in correspondence with Crimean anarchists, made statements containing linguistic and psychological signs of motivation to commit violent, destructive actions (blowing up cars, houses, government bodies).

On April 19, 2019, the North Caucasus Military District Court sentenced Evgeniy  Karakashev to six years in prison on charges of public calls for terrorist activities through correspondence in the VK chat.
