Occupiers kidnapped 355 people in the newly occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions – CTRC

April 17, 2024

Since the beginning of its activity, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center has been systematically engaged in monitoring human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, and with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, we began to do it in the newly occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. On a quarterly basis, we provide an Analysis of Human Rights Violations in these territories.

So, during the period of full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war in the newly occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions at least 355 people were abducted, 100 of whom are the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people.

Thanks to a timely response, the CTRC  learned about the fate of about 80 people who had been abducted in these territories. Some of them were either released or placed in Russian places of detention.

It should be emphasized that in the newly occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, the Russians are not guided by any legislation and openly commit war crimes, among them enforced abductions, illegal home invasions, tortures and murders.
