Occupiers in Akyar (Sevastopol) force schoolchildren  work during their summer holidays

June 10, 2025
The occupation administration of Sevastopol has introduced a so-called “labor semester” for schoolchildren. Children are forced to work at communal facilities, in particular at construction sites, instead of a full summer vacation. This was reported by the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“Under the guise of labor-loving education“ there is actually exploitation of child labor, and ”governor’s school labor squads” became one of the tools of this approach. Propaganda trips to Russia are offered as an alternative to participation in the ‘squads’,” the report says.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center strongly condemns the use of forced child labor in the temporarily occupied territories and calls on the international community to pay attention to the violation of children’s rights in Crimea.
