Occupation ‘authorities’ announce development of industrial tourism in Crimea

October 16, 2024

The Russian authorities declare the development of industrial tourism on the occupied peninsula and assure that the number of enterprises involved in this new direction of the Crimean tourism industry is constantly growing. According to Krym.Realii, research has been conducted to verify the validity of such optimistic statements. Representatives of the group wrote about this on the official website of Krym. Realii.

According to the register of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Russian government of Crimea, there are already 75 industrial and agricultural enterprises that practice industrial tourism.

The Crimean branch of the international civil society movement for the deoccupation and reintegration of Crimea #Liberateсrimea told Krym.Realii that many enterprises with the potential to develop industrial tourism are not interested in developing it in their country.

‘Until 2014, industrial tourism in Crimea was developing and had great prospects. But then the occupation  took place, which marked the beginning of the monopoly of power in Crimea by the ‘winning team’. After the outbreak of a full-scale war, the power of Aksyonov and Konstantinov was further consolidated, extending their influence to the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. Today, many Crimean enterprises do not want to develop industrial tourism, as they will be immediately tormented by visits from free ‘sightseers’ upon a call from ‘above’. Unfortunately, Crimean enterprises have become hostages of the rigid vertical of power. Many of them have to make monthly payments to the local administration’s ‘black cash’ in order to continue working. And those who refuse to do so are fired, like Oleg Zubkov and Resul Veliyayev. That’s why many business leaders are thinking, why do we need this tourism, so that we have to ‘bring in’ even more?’ #Liberatecrimea activists shared their observations.

According to tour operators, the demand for hotel accommodation near wineries in autumn increased by 20% compared to the same period in 2023.
