Occupants in the Henichesk district are massively re-registering the houses of Ukrainians who have left as their own property

December 30, 2025
In the temporarily occupied Henichesk district of the Kherson region, occupants are massively re-registering residential buildings belonging to Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave for territory controlled by Ukraine or abroad as their own property. This was reported to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center by local activists.

Such actions by the occupiers mean the actual forced deprivation of Ukrainian citizens of their property rights in the temporarily occupied territory.

This is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, in particular the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the occupying power from confiscating or appropriating the property of the civilian population in the occupied territory.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center condemns the continuation of the policy of illegal appropriation of housing in the temporarily occupied territories and emphasizes that these actions are war crimes for which the perpetrators will be held accountable.

We continue to document human rights violations and call on the international community to increase pressure on the occupying state to end illegal practices and protect the rights of the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
