Nariman Dzhelyalov became the winner of the “History of Injustice” award

November 2, 2023

Crimean Tatar, political prisoner Nariman Dzhelyalov became the winner of the History of Injustice award. Lawyer Nikolai Polozov, who represented the political prisoner, told Suspilne Crimea about this.

“This year the prize was awarded to Nariman Celal. Since his family was unable to come to Prague, they instructed me, as Nariman Dzhelyalov‘s lawyer, to attend the ceremony. As part of the ceremony, there was also a video message from Nariman’s wife Leviza,- Polozov said.

The memorial sign of the award will be transferred to Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, since Nariman is the first deputy chairman of Mejlis, where it will remain until Nariman returns.

“As for Nariman himself, he has been in custody for almost a month; he was illegally taken out of Crimea. According to our information, he is being transported to Siberia, to the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Unfortunately, there is no connection with him”,- Nikolai Polozov emphasized.

According to the lawyer, it is not yet known where Dzhelyalov is and in what condition.

“The very fact of presenting the award to Nariman, drawing attention to the fate of political prisoners, I think this is very important. And we hope this will be another confirmation that people of free will are not ready to accept the fact that the Putin regime is illegally persecuting Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and people in the occupied territories”,- he concluded.

We remind you that on September 21, 2022, in the Supreme Court of Crimea Nariman Dzhelyalov was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraphs a, b of Part 2 of Art. 281 (committing sabotage by an organized group, resulting in significant property damage), Part 4 of Art. 222.1 (illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of explosive devices committed by an organized group), Part 4 of Art. 222.1 (illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of explosive devices committed by an organized group), Part 3 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal transportation of an explosive device across the customs border of the Customs Union within the EurAsEC, committed by an organized group) and imposed a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 17 years, a fine of 700 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for 1.5 years.
