Since Ukraine’s independence, more than 25 coins have been minted dedicated to Crimea, the peninsula’s sights, Crimean Tatars, prominent Crimeans, memorable dates, etc.
For example, coins were issued in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Crimean Tatar Amet Khan Sultan or in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people. In fact, these coins have much more than just a collector’s value.
They serve as a memorial to the deeds of the Crimean Tatar people, their resistance and steadfastness. These coins depict the long history, culture and memory of Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine.
These coins do not let the world community forget about Crimea and its picturesque landscapes. For example, in 2009, the Swallow’s Nest coin was awarded first in the nomination of the Vicenzio Palladio international awards.
Currently, the latest minted coin is dated January 12, 2021, and is dedicated to Agatangel Krymsky, a Ukrainian historian and scientist with Crimean Tatar roots. We invite you to take a look at the most beautiful coins dedicated to Crimea and discuss in the comments – what monument, person or event will the next coin be dedicated to?
